We were approached by the American Virtual Academy team to help reposition and create their identity in order to better represent the company and provide scope for future growth.
American Virtual Academy started in 2001 as a partnership with Primavera Online High School in Chandler, Arizona. At the time, Primavera needed computer-based curriculum that could effectively teach its students. AVA’s browser-based system kept students engaged and motivated, giving students the ability to log onto their courses any time of day, anywhere in the world.
During the ten years since the company began, the team and the skills those members brought to the table had grown substantially. AVA sought to breathe new life into their brand with a new identity that better expressed their position in the space.
We knew from the outset that designing a brand identity for an company of this caliber would require a collaborative approach. The core team at AVA had a clear understanding of their strategic transition and needed a creative partner to help them visualize their new position.
Since AVA's new strategy was at the core of their rebrand, it was important to work closely with their executive team. By doing so, this better enabled to gain a clear understanding as to how the company should be positioned. As a result of initial strategy sessions with both teams, core emotions were identified to best represent who they are, their working relationships with clients and their aspirations for the future.
The logo and supporting graphical devices were designed to represent the technology-led nature of the business, yet showcase the understanding of the traditional teaching and learning mechanisms. Fully customizable patterns and a tailored icon set are available at Flipswitch's disposal. In addition to this, a series of brightly colored palettes were chosen to support the company’s enthusiastic proposition.
